The 200m Heat Race

At The Pakuranga Athletic Club Lloyd Elsmore, a Tamaki cluster athletic day was on the way. I had participated in the 200m race and The Long Jump representing Pt England School as a year 7 contestant. My mum, dad and grandparents came to support me and the school.

GO SON! Said my mum, as the man clapped the clappers for the 200m heat race. I pushed off my foot as hard as I could and started sprinting as I was coming around the corner of the track I saw a friend of mine to the right of my lane, his name is Tevita and is currently a year 7 student at Sylvia Park. As I ran next to him I started passing him and that built up my confidence and I got faster and faster. It was just me and another student that attends Stonfields. In my mind, I kept on telling myself that I could do it. So I started to pump my arms and legs and ended up winning the heat. "I'm in the finals!" Is what I screamed I really wanted to jump and celebrate but I had no energy.

In the long jump, I came second behind Tevita N. The length of my jump was 4.76m and Tevita jumped 5.12m. In the finals for the 200m race, I came second behind Tevita N. Thank you for reading my blog post about my 200m heat race and I hope that you enjoyed it down below is a video clip of my 200m heat race. Please leave a positive comment down below of what you thought about my writing and how you think I did in the 200m race.

Andrew Patterson and Raenan's Speech to the yr7&8

Ever heard of the name Andrew Patterson? If you have then guess what? Today he came to Pt England School to talk to the year 7&8 students and trying to inspire us about changing our ways and trying to get the year 8's comfortable for College next year. Andrew Patterson Interviewed his guest, Raenan.
Raenan is a ex student of Pt England School and is now attending Tamaki College.

Raenan has just been informed that he will be Deputy Boy next year for Tamaki College, He talked about his time at Tamaki and his last year at Pt England School. He said that his number one college that he did not want to go to was Tamaki College. But his mum said he had to. At first it was nervracking for him but as the years went passed he loved it there. Raenan's Quote was "If change doesn't come then make a change." He definitely inspired me and I look up to both Raenan and Andrew Patterson

Why do we have Labour Day

Why do we have Labour Day? If that’s the question you’ve been asking yourself for too long, you have come to the right place. I will be telling you about why we have Labour Day and what we celebrate.

New Zealand is one of the first countries to work 8 hours a day, and it is all because of a legend named Samuel Parnell. He was brave enough to fight for himself because in his opinion over 8 hours of work was too long. He went to court and he convinced the government to only give workers 8 hours a day. But sadly the legend passed 2 weeks after.

Now that the Labour Party has finally won. We now have a new Government and a new Prime Minister. So that means the hard workers might have more time to see and spent time with their loved ones.

So did you learn why we have Labour Day? If you didn't, Google's always another option. Besides that thank you for reading my Explanation post and have a great day. By Ajani

Planning for Term 3 Project

Term 3 Reflection

Term 3 Extension Task! It gets harder and harder every Term. This was one of the hardest so far. Our Task was to use Makey Makey and code to make an instrument to play either the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy birthday or a song that you know how to play. If you don’t know what Makey Makey is the information is on here. My group, Me and Tevita chose to play Happy Birthday. Tevita was playing the drums and I was playing the piano. First I had to create a piano by using a cardboard box and had to cut little cardboard pieces to represent the tiles. Tevita used a playdough container and put the playdough pieces on top and used pencils to represent the drum sticks. The biggest challenge was getting the notes and playing the note on time. At the end we got it done and we were awsome. Now Term 4 is coming. BRING IT ON!

Immersion Assembly Term 4

Musical Madness Are the lyrics to a song that Mr Jacobsen wrote but i’ll get to that later.
This morning we had a Immersion assembly for Term 4, the last Term of 2017 at Pt England School. But first we had to prepare and the teachers remind us about the Pt England way. After those 2 weeks of holidays that felt like 2 days.

As we walk into the school hall I spot Mr Burt with his very colourful shirt and dreads, and behind him were the words “Musical Madness”  is our topic for Term 4. It is focused on how music can change you and how you feel.

The most informative Team was Team 1 because their item and talking was very informative because of how they described what their focus is on and how they are going to make it happen. Their focus is on how music can express your emotions and demonstrated it while their item.

The most entertaining Team was Team 4 their item made me laugh so much, tears rolled down my face. Their item was the Team 4 teachers in a car listening to music, but whenever the music style changed so did their dancing. The most entertaining bit was at the end when Mr Jacobsen caught the Team 4 teachers dancing so he winds down his window and we find out that he is listening to Snoop Dogg.

I would like to find out more on how music can affect your emotions, actions and feelings. That comes to the end of my explanation. Thank you for reading my Explanation and please leave a comment on what you think I need to work on or any questions about the day.

P.E.S Floundering

Yum Yum, Flounder! Today a few of our students from Pt England School caught Flounder, but sadly was not caught to be eaten. We caught them to farm in partnership with Kauri Flats School
Image result for kauri flats school
As the bell went in the morning and everybody sprinting to class it was time... Time to go down Riverside Ave to see if our frag net had caught any Flounder. While in partnership with Kauri Flats School currently with 4 Flounders we tried to beat that score.

While we walked down, students from Pt England School whispering to each other "I hope we beat the score of 4." As us seniors walk towards our meeting spot we hear the juniors singing waiatas and praying that we would catch them, and help them to grow. After that we leave.

When we leave with still no idea of how much flounder we have caught we have hope and faith that we will catch more than 4 so we prayed and prayed and prayed. This was one of the most nervracking moments of P.E.S History. That's It we still have no knowledge of how much we've caught.  DUN DUN DUN!

Geometry Task Day 1

Today in the middle block we had a task. The task was to make a rocket with cubes and to take pictures of it on every angle, Front View, Side View, Top View and the Perspective View. We had to buddy up
with someone so I picked one of my great, smart, nice friends, Noah. We struggled at the start but got easier as we went on.

This was a very fun task and highly recommend to do it yourself. All you need is connectable cubes a book to write in and a buddy/friend. I loved doing this and here are photos of me and Noah working on this task. Give me a comment below on if you think that this would be fun or not. Thank You for reading my blog post. I will try to show you my finished rocket ship later on tomorrow.

Anual Speech Competition P.E.S

Have you ever said a speech in front of over 150 students? I haven’t but some of the students in Team 5 did last Friday. For some of them it was like an impossible mission that your mum has assigned you to like doing the whole washing in 1 hour, but for others it was like a  walk in the park. I am going to tell you what speech I found appealing and the speech I found entertaining.
3 students from each class from Class. The students names were put in a box and the teachers had to pull one out and whoevers name was pulled out goes first or next. Next please?

The speech that I found appealing the most was Danielle's. It is appealing to me because I can relate to it. It relates to me because it happened to me in tonga with my grandad but he’s with the lord and saviour now. Danielle’s speech was about why she thinks that drugs and that kind of medication is bad for you. Her speech was very deep so get yourself some tissues and prepare to cry. Her speech was about her Grandma and how she passed away by taking medication she also spoke about why you should tell your family members to not take too much medication because there is a big risk on your life. I also liked how she picked this topic and knew it was going to be hard to talk about.

The most entertaining speech to me was Mubashshir’s he was very very funny and I enjoyed every second of his speech. The speech was about what would he would do if he were President for a day. The first thing he would do was help the homeless that is a big reason why I liked his speech. He also wanted to try and stop pollution. I liked how he used actions and spoke clearly. He also wanted to provide more money to schools and to businesses that are struggling with money.

Well, it’s that time there’s always an end to a writing. It’s time for this writing to end, but before I go tell me in the comment section does Danielle’s speech relate to you? Or what would you do if you were president a day. Thank you for reading my writing. Bye

GEGNZ Student Summit

WOOAAH!! Is what the whole Year 7&8 Extension Team said when we saw what Ormiston Junior College in real life. It was so big that it was probably 15 times Pt England. I know right very very big. We were very lucky to go to GEGNZ Student Summit and present to over 20 people. I was privileged and lucky enough to be in one of those groups.

My group told the schools about what PENN is and how it operates, while the other told them how to create a simple game using Scratch. Over 400 students attended this in 2017. We had to get  to school before 7:45 in the morning. It was very fun and the students were very well behaved.

The PENN teams presentation started at 10:00 and the Scrstch team started at 10:30. I am proud of my team for pushing through even with a person absent. My team did great and so did the Scratch team. It was an amazing experience and I would love to do it again.

One of my favourite parts were visiting other workshops. Especially the stop motion workshops. They spoke very clearly and were confident. They were only 8 and 9 years old and did very well. So me and the PENN group went to them after they finished and congratulated them and told them how good they were and how well they held themselves. Well done to Mitchell, Ana, Yvonne and Simon for getting prizes.

The Space Race

Hey you! Do you think you know about The Space Race. If you do than
correct me if i'm wrong in the comment section below. I didn't know what it
meant at first but I learnt a bit of it as we went on into the week. So go on
look at my presentation.

Own Devices At School?

Should we be allowed to bring our own devices to school? I think we should and here's why. Many people around G.I and Panmure have their own device and are under the age of 14, but the person who has bought the device for the child will most likely have a reason to buy him or her a device.

Another reason why I think we should be allowed to bring our devices to school is because there might of been an tragic accident, for example a car crash and it involves the person who picks you up after school. So someone texts you and tells you about this car accident they tell you.

One reason I think we should be allowed to bring our device to school is because we may need to call our mum, dad or caregiver. For example you have training and you forgot your boots and you need them or you can’t train so you text your dad and he brings your boots to where you train. If he didn’t have his device then he would of missed training for that day. So the coaches think that you aren’t committed to the team.

Another reason why I think we should be allowed to bring our devices to school is because there might of been an tragic accident, for example a car crash and it involves the person who picks you up after school. So someone texts you and tells you about this car accident they tell you where to go, who you will be picked up by and what to do. But if he or she did not have here phone they will most likely to be confused and anxious.

Well That's my opinion.. What’s yours? Tell me at the comment section below what your opinion is and if you learnt anything.

Term 3 Immersion Assembly

No need to fear Term 3 is here! New term, new Ajani. As soon as I walk into Pt England School Term 3 greets me. When I walk into my class all of the teachers are replaced with stars from space. But Mrs Telea stood out for me the most because of her beautiful headband and earrings.

The new focus was on Planet Earth and beyond. Which means that we are focusing on the solar system. When the bell rang to go to class I was a bit nervous to go to class, but at the same time I was excited to see my teachers again.

Immersion assembly time! This kind of assembly includes all Teams. As we walked into the hall I saw Mr Somerville and Mr Jacobsen with mics, Mr Somerville had the remote to his drone. When everybody arrived they started to talk. Suddenly a drone makes its way to the stage and two aliens come out to say that they are going to eat one of us. So Mr Sommerville and Mr Jacobsen fight them with swords and saves Pt England School. Pt England School gives a round of applause to them for saving us.

The Item that was the most informative for me was Team 4 because they were very descriptive and told us what the problem is, how we they can fix it and why they choose it, The most entertaining was Team 5 because Mrs Judd used her beautiful voice to sing and the band behind her did a great job as well. I am looking forward to this term because of the new focus and because of the space theme.

Thank you for reading my writing. I hope you liked it. If you can please leave a comment about what you thought about it and what I can do to make it better. By Ajani

Word Problems

Scratch Game Reflection

In Term 2 the year 7&8 Extension group had a very hard task to complete. We had to make another game. But we had to be in pairs and shooting, enemies and mazes had to be involved.
My group involved myself and my good friend Noah. Our game was called Alien Invasion, I picked the title based on what and who we had in our game.

Starting on the game with very little knowledge on how to make a game. We were very nervous and worried, worried on our marks and worried that we wouldn’t finish it on time. We made aliens, mazes and more. Our goal was to do the best that we could. On week 4 Noah was sick and I was left by myself. I got some done but not a lot. Some days I would work on it at home.

Some areas we were struggling on were making our main sprite shoot and making the aliens disappear when it touches the bullet. Another thing we were stuck on was drawing the sprites. The only easy parts were when we had help from the coding pro, Zoe.
Now we understand more about scratch and how to code.

What I think Pt England Needs

To have more security
Most people around G.I know that Pt England has been broken into several times. To fix this problem we need to have more security alarms, sensors, cameras and security guards to have at the school 24/7. We need to talk to the police about this problem and to ask them for sensors which inform them from Pt England School to the Glen Innes Police Station. We need the cameras to give us more information about the thieves so we can catch them, also we need the alarms to inform others about Pt England School getting robbed and will hopefully they’ll help out. This way we will have more information and more chance of catching these thieves. By Ajani

If you are wondering why I have posted this post then listen up. Some of you know that our new topic for Term 2 is Now That's Thinking. My Holiday

"TACKLE SON!" Screamed my dad as I was playing a rugby game. It was Varsity vs Grammar, I was playing for Varsity. The halfback ran the ball straight and I had to support him by taking people out of the ruck. Because they are trying to get the ball. If they got the ball then they have more chance to score a try.

The score was 3 - 0 to Varsity and only 2 minutes was on the clock.
The ball got passed to me and I sprinted as hard as I could and offloaded it. As he caught the ball he stepped one defender and fended the other. He ran and ran but he was getting chased so he kicked the ball and I caught it.

I couldn't believe that I caught it. So I ran as fast as I could and dived for a try. It was my favourite rugby highlight of my life. I loved every second of that game. At the end of the game the score was 5 - 0. They were a very challenging team and a very humble team.

Thank you to Grammar and there coach. As always, Im Ajani and Thank You very much for reading my writing. Please leave a positive comment and maybe some advice for my writing.

My Favourite Sport

Hi there! What is your favourite sport and why? My name is Ajani and I am going to tell you why Rugby Union is my favourite sport. I love Rugby Union and I have played it since I was 5 years old.

My dad encourages me very much and wishes the best for me. He was very good at rugby himself. So I was lucky to have a parent who knows how to play the sport that you love. He played heaps of sports and he played for New Zealand and Tonga for Tag, Rugby Union, Touch and Rugby League. He also holds the record for 100m sprint at Tamaki College, 10.17s.

My goal of life is mainly to be successful and have no trouble with money so I will have enough money to feed my whole family. Another is to make it into any of the super rugby teams but mostly the Hurricanes, The All Blacks and The Warriors (So I can try to help them.) Rugby is by far the most fun and most satisfying sport I have ever played.

I love rugby because it is very entertaining and challenging. I am currently playing for The Varsity Rugby Club in Glen Innes. We were a very good team last year. I was very lucky to have those kind of team mates, they were like brothers to me. Varsity has helped me improve in the years, I started playing for varsity when I was 8. Now I am 11. So I have been playing for Varsity for 4 years.

So have you decided yet? Please tell me in the comments, or tell me what you think about my writing. I really hoped that you liked my writing. As always im Ajani thank you for reading my writing. God Bless, Goodbye

Yr 7&8 Extension Groups Trip to the Movies

Have you watched Hidden Figures before? At the 8th of March 2017 the Pt England Year 7&8 Extension group did. In the Cinemas of Sylvia Park. It is about three African American ladies
who were very smart and one of them got picked to work in the Main Nasa Office. But she was
the only coloured person so everyone didn't treat her the same as they would treat people
who weren't coloured. So she became very angry and very sad. She even had to run a very long
distance to go to the toilet because she wasn't allowed to use the other toilet because of her colour.
So the head of the main office broke the sign that said "No coloured people" And stopped being
Racist. A big thank you to Mr Vogt and his sister for making this possible.

My Favourite Past Time

Hey you! What is the best pastime for you? I am going to tell you myn and why. My favourite past time is when me and my dad went to vector arena to watch, WWE. Here is why I loved it so much. It was definitely my favourite past time.

When I was 4 years old, I was watching Regular Show but I accidently changed the channel to The Box, Channel 5 and WWE Raw was on and as soon as John Cena’s Theme Song played I got excited and watched the match. John Cena won I was so addicted to WWE and especially John Cena. So that’s when I started to love WWE.The reason why I love WWE so much is because John Cena reminds me of my aunty who passed away fighting cancer. She never gave up against cancer and John Cena never gives up.

The reason why my favourite past time is when I went to Vector Arena to watch WWE. Is because it was a father, son moment and I love my dad very much. He had so much fun. We also bonded a little and a good time to be away from my 4 little sisters and yes I do have a brother but he’s in Waikato for college he earned a scholarship.

So how about you have you decided yet? Tell me in the comments and maybe share some thoughts of my piece of writing. As always, Im Ajani and thank you very much for reading. God Bless. Goodbye

My Writing Test Results

Today I received my writing test results. The things that I am very proud of is my Ideas, Organisation and my Spelling. The things that I need to work on is my Structure, my Vocab, Sentences and my Punctuation. I am very happy and proud of my results. My family is as well. So tell me in the comment section what do you think about my Writing test. Here is a picture of my results.

If you are wondering and confused click here to see my Writing Test. Thank you for reading this I really appreciate it.

My Writing Test

What is the most special place in the world for you, and did you know us humans were made from clay? Malo e lelei my name is Ajani and I am going to be telling you what my special place is and why. My favourite place is church. I adore my church because sometimes you could meet The Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ.

Another reason why my special place is church is because that is where I have been baptized and that is where I ask Jesus for forgiveness. I also go there because it is where I can thank him. Thank him for my family and friends, thank him for my life and for the whole universe. If you are ever in a situation and you don't think you can get out of it, always ask Jesus and The Lord for help. Eventually he will help you.

Have you ever wondered what life will be like without Jesus Christ and God. I think everyone wouldn't be here on earth and I wouldn’t be writing this explanation for you. But that didn’t happen God came down to earth where there was nothing but ground. God had the power to make earth a better place. He made everything such as the grass, us humans, the sky and finally churches, he made churches so we can connect with him and ask him questions or for forgiveness.

God is an amazing being if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t even be here. Humans wouldn’t even be a thing! The Lord loves everyone even you. So don’t ever think that he doesn’t love you because there is a 100% chance that you would be wrong. If you have made a very bad mistake and you don’t know if anybody will forgive you, that's when you pray and ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins, I guarantee that he will forgive you.

I love God and he loves me. The Lord is my father and he will always be. But my real dad is my dad his name is Walter. Church is a very very important part of my life I have to admit that I haven't made the best decisions in my life but those mistakes have made me who I am now, I love who I have turned out to be. I am a healthy boy with an awesome family and amazing friends including my marvelous school Pt England. I would like to use this opportunity to say thank you to my family, school, friends and teachers for being the best in the world. He doesn’t love someone more than another to The Lord loves us all equally.

So how about you what’s your special place? As always thank you for reading my writing, im Ajani and have a good day. God bless all of you, goodbye.
